The status of an authorized exporter as a real mechanism for improving trade relations with the EU - the results of the first international conference

On February 18, the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Business and Trade Association (UBTA), Association of Exporters and Importers ZED and the Coordination Council for Industrial and Logistics Issues held the first international online conference on the activities of authorized exporters.

The event brought together officials from key ministries and departments of Ukraine, representatives of business associations, international partners, as well as more than 150 domestic exporters who are aimed at further developing trade relations with a key partner for Ukraine - the European Union.

In his opening remarks, Oleg Uruskii, the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, noted that the development of exports to the EU and support for domestic exporters, which are represented in this market, remains one of the priority tasks of the ministry.

“For us, the status of “authorized exporter” is an example of dedication to the industrial growth of Ukraine, it is the embodiment of the idea of European integration and the recognition of our products in the highly competitive European market,” said Oleg Urusky.

Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, the Trade Representative of Ukraine, drew attention to the fact that the issue of authorized exporters is heavily invested in the industrial policy of the European Union, speaks of the open strategic autonomy of enterprises, that production chains should be as close as possible to EU.

“I am very glad that the story with the status of an authorized exporter, which a few years ago seemed purely theoretical, has moved into the plane of practical implementation.

In a month, on March 16-17, an industrial dialogue between Ukraine and the European Union will take place. We will also talk about the industrial strategy of the EU and Ukraine, about climate change and the strengthening of industrial cooperation. The development of the institution of authorized economic operators in this context is extremely important,” said Taras Kachka.

Yuriy Petrovsky, Deputy Minister for European Integration of the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, believes that in the future, more than 15,000 Ukrainian exporters who cooperate with European partners will be able to obtain the status of an authorized exporter.

“The work is just beginning, now 272 enterprises have this status. Their number will and should grow, because these are enterprises that have proven themselves very well not only in Ukraine, but also in international markets,” he is sure.

Only the common position of exporters, specialized business associations, government and legislative branches of government in favor of Strengthening the position of the Ukrainian business community in the EU and virishennya low production and logistics problems facing the exporter, sums up Sergii Svystil, chairman of the coordinating council on production and logistics issues.

Based on the results of the conference, a consolidated position of exporters will be formed, on the main problematic points that arise for business in the process of registering the status of authorized exporters, which will subsequently be brought to the attention of key ministries and departments.
